Raffle Purpose

Peel Amateur Radio Group 40th Anniversary Raffle

The Peel Amateur Radio Group was formed in 1982 and has approximately 30 members - more information is on our website http://www.parg.org.au.

Among other things, we provide emergency communications for the Peel region and PARG is a member of the City of Mandurah Local Emergency Management Committee. The Group is composed of licensed amateur radio operators who are trained emergency communicators, and volunteer personal time, skill and equipment to serve in the public interest within the Peel District of Western Australia.

This raffle has been run to celebrate 40 years of community support, promote the Group to radio amateurs and the public, and will help fund the Group's future capability development plans. With huge thanks to Steve Kennedy of DX Radio Systems and Mark Rawlings of TET Emtron (both proudly Western Australian small businesses), PARG offers the following prizes:

First Prize:  An Icom IC-7300 HF Transceiver plus a $100 TET Emtron Gift Voucher.

Prizes to be Won

Prize LevelDescriptionValue

1st Prize

Icom IC-7300 HF Transceiver from DX Radio Systems of Midland (formerly Future Systems - Perth's only retailer of amateur radio equipment, providing Icom, Benelec, Comet, Hustler, FlexRadio, 4O3A, TET Emtron, Bushcom and Codan products)

plus

a $100 voucher from TET Emtron of Port Denison - Your Australian source of amateur antennas and antenna parts - Aussie Owned, Aussie Made, Quality over Price.

The prizes:

Icom IC-7300 – The Innovative HF Transceiver with High Performance Real-Time Spectrum Scope, RF Direct Sampling System, Class Leading Real-Time Spectrum Scope, High-Resolution Waterfall Function, DSP A/D MIC FPGA: Field-Programmable Gate Array. The IC-7300’s real-time spectrum scope is class-leading in resolution, sweep speed and dynamic range. While listening to received audio, you can check the real-time spectrum scope and quickly move to an intended signal. When you first touch the scope screen around the intended signal, the touched part is magnified. A second touch of the scope screen changes the operating frequency and allows you to accurately tune.

The combination of the waterfall function and the real-time spectrum scope assists in maximum receive performance of the IC-7300 and in- creases QSO opportunities without missing weak signals. The waterfall function shows a change of signal strength over a period of time and allows you to find weak signals that may not be apparent on the spectrum scope.

Class Leading RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range) and Phase Noise Characteristics, 15 Discrete Band-Pass Filters

Real-Time Spectrum Scope Specifications:

  • Scope System - FFT (Fast Fourier Transform)

  • Sweep speed - Max. 30 frames/second (approx.), Selectable from slow, mid or fast

  • Span width - 5kHz–1000kHz

  • Resolution - 1 pixel minimum

  • Waveform display area (vertical axis) - 80dB

  • Reference level adjustment - –20dB to +20dB

  • Peak level hold function (Max. hold) - ON/OFF/last 10 seconds

  • Other functions:

    • Averaging indication

    • Touch screen operation

    • VBW (Video Band Width) adjustment

High Resolution Waterfall Function:  The combination of the waterfall function and the real-time spectrum scope assists in maximum receive performance of the IC-7300 and in- creases QSO opportunities without missing weak signals. The waterfall function shows a change of signal strength over a period of time and allows you to find weak signals that may not be apparent on the spectrum scope.

Audio Scope Function:  The audio scope function can be used to observe various AF characteristics such as microphone compressor level, filter width, notch filter width and keying waveform in the CW mode. Either the transmit or receive audio can be displayed on the FFT scope with the waterfall function and the oscilloscope.

The prizes:

4O3A AB Antenna Switch

High isolation 1x2 A to B coaxial switch. Switches with +13-15VDC.

Also used for some applications such as ganging Antenna Genius 2x8 switches.

The most common use case is routing the antenna between two existing antenna switches. For these cases it doesn’t need to have as high isolation as the RS3000 or 1A2R due to the high isolation the switches it’s connected to.

Additional isolation is realized by grounding of the unused port.

It has an LED to indicate “out B” status. When powered off the input is routed to out A.

AB switch is powered by 13-15V through a dedicated power connector.

Specifications:

Isolation on unused port at 30MHz: 56db to 70 dB (On/Off status)

Input Power: 4000W

Connectors: PL or N type

Power voltage: +12V DC

Power consumption: 120mA

Power Indication: LED diode
